What do you do when your best friend suddenly stops talking to you for no reason?

My best friend of 8 years has gone completely silent. No fight, no argument, nothing. They just stopped responding to messages and when I see them with mutual friends they are distant. I have no idea what I did. How do you handle a friend who ghosts you without explanation?

Send one clear, non-accusatory message: 'I've noticed we haven't talked in a while and I miss you. If I did something to upset you I'd really like to know.' Then leave it. You have done your part. The next move is theirs.

Sometimes people pull away because of things happening in their own life that have nothing to do with you. But an 8 year friendship deserves an explanation. If they cannot provide one that tells you something important about the friendship.
