Should I reach out to my ex or wait for them to contact me first?

We broke up 3 weeks ago and it was mutual but messy. I want to reach out but I don't want to look desperate or push them further away. I also don't know if waiting is the right move because what if they think I don't care? I am overthinking this.

Give it at least 30 days of no contact first. Not as a game but because you both need space to actually process the breakup. Reaching out too soon usually leads to more pain for both people.

Ask yourself honestly: why do you want to reach out? If it's to get closure or reconnect that's one thing. If it's because you can't handle the silence, that's anxiety talking. Wait until you're in a calmer place.
