Should I have children if I am not sure I want them?

I am 31 and everyone around me is having kids but I genuinely do not know if I want them. Some days I can imagine it and feel warmth toward the idea. Other days I cannot imagine giving up my freedom. My partner wants children. Is uncertainty a sign I should not have them?

Uncertainty is not a red flag. Almost no major life decision comes with complete certainty. The question is whether the uncertainty is about timing and logistics or about whether you actually want this life. Those are very different things.

Talk to people who chose not to have children and people who did. Not to be convinced either way but to understand what each life actually looks like. Your ambivalence deserves real exploration not social pressure.
