Is it wrong to leave a stable job to pursue something you are passionate about?

I have a secure well-paying job that I find completely meaningless. I want to leave to pursue something I actually care about but it would mean a significant pay cut and financial uncertainty. Everyone around me thinks I would be making a huge mistake. Am I being irresponsible?

It depends on your specific circumstances and risk tolerance. The question is not passion versus stability, it's whether the misery of staying outweighs the discomfort of the risk. Only you can calculate that honestly.

Test it before fully leaping. Build the thing you want to pursue on the side while you still have income. Once it generates some traction and you have savings as a cushion the leap is far less scary.
