How do you deal with a coworker who takes credit for your work?

My colleague has been presenting my ideas as their own in meetings and my manager seems to believe them. I have proof the ideas originated with me but I don't know how to address this without looking petty or creating a hostile work environment. What should I do?

Document everything going forward. Send emails summarizing your ideas with timestamps before meetings. In meetings, speak up early and reference your prior work clearly. Make your contributions visible systematically rather than reactively.

Have a direct private conversation with the colleague first. They may not even realize how it appears. 'I noticed my suggestion from our last conversation was presented as your idea in the meeting, I'd appreciate being acknowledged next time.'
