How long does it actually take to get over a breakup?

My boyfriend of 3 years broke up with me 2 months ago and I still cry every single day. Everyone keeps telling me I should be over it by now but I am not even close. Is there a normal timeline for healing after a breakup or does it vary?

There is no universal timeline. Research suggests it takes about half the length of the relationship but honestly that varies wildly depending on how attached you were. Two months for a 3 year relationship is nothing. Be patient with yourself.
