How do you stop procrastinating on tasks you find boring or overwhelming?

I have important work tasks I keep putting off for weeks. The longer I avoid them the more anxious I feel about them and the harder it becomes to start. I know I need to do them but I cannot seem to make myself begin. What actually works for procrastination?

The two minute rule: if starting takes less than two minutes, do it now. For bigger tasks, commit to just 10 minutes. Starting is the hardest part. Once you begin the task usually feels less terrible than the avoidance did.

Procrastination is often fear in disguise, fear of failing, fear of judgment, or fear that you cannot do it well enough. Ask yourself what you are actually afraid of. The answer is usually more productive than another productivity hack.
