How do you rebuild trust in yourself after making a terrible decision?

I made a decision last year that hurt people I care about and I am still living with the consequences. Beyond the external damage I have lost faith in my own judgment and second-guess every decision now. How do you learn to trust yourself again after failing badly?

Self-trust is rebuilt the same way other-trust is: through consistent small actions over time. Make decisions and follow through on them. Start with low-stakes choices and build upward. Trust is a track record not a feeling.

Also make the distinction between a bad decision and being a bad person. Good people make terrible decisions sometimes, especially under stress, grief, or limited information. What you do afterward matters more than the mistake.
