How do you rebuild confidence after a period of neglecting your appearance?

I went through a depression last year and completely let myself go. I stopped exercising, eating well, or caring about how I looked. I am feeling better now but I don't know how to start rebuilding and the gap between where I am and where I want to be feels overwhelming.

Start with one small thing and do only that for a week. Not a complete overhaul. One walk, one nutritious meal, one shower with intention. Momentum builds from tiny consistent actions not grand restarts.

Be compassionate about where you have been. Depression is an illness not a failure. Rebuilding after depression takes longer than people expect and that is okay. Progress over perfection.
