How do you stop comparing your body to others at the gym?

I want to go to the gym to get healthier but every time I go I spend the whole time comparing myself to people around me and leave feeling worse than when I arrived. I know it is counterproductive but I cannot stop. How do you stay focused on yourself?

Use headphones and have a specific workout plan to follow. Having a task to focus on reduces the mental space available for comparison. Also everyone at the gym is focused on themselves far more than you think.

Reframe why you are there. If your goal is health and energy rather than appearance, the people around you become irrelevant to your purpose. You are not competing with them.
