How do you cope with loneliness after moving to a new city?

I moved to a new city 6 months ago for a great career opportunity. The job is good but I am profoundly lonely. I have no social network here and building one from scratch at 30 feels almost impossible. How do you actually build a life in a new place?

Six months is still very early. Building a social life in a new city typically takes 1 to 2 years of consistent effort. The key is repeated exposure: join things where you see the same people regularly, not one-off events.

Apps like Meetup, sports leagues, and classes create the repeated contact that friendships need to form. Also consider reaching out to people from your past who might know someone in your new city.
