How do you actually get better at managing your time?

I have tried every productivity system and time management technique. Planners, apps, time blocking, the Pomodoro method. None of them stick for more than a week. I always revert to chaos. Is there something fundamentally different about people who are good at managing time or am I just not wired for it?

Most time management systems fail because they treat time as a logical problem when it is actually an emotional one. The tasks you avoid are usually the ones tied to fear, perfectionism, or unclear priorities. Fix those and the system almost manages itself.

Stop optimizing and start simplifying. Pick one rule and follow only it. Most people fail at time management because they are running five systems simultaneously. One imperfect rule applied consistently beats five perfect systems applied sporadically.
