What should I text someone I am interested in after getting their number?

I got the number of someone I met at a friend's party and now I have no idea what to text them. I don't want to seem too eager but I also don't want to wait so long they forget who I am. What is the right first text to send someone you are interested in?

Text within 24-48 hours. Keep it simple and reference something specific from your conversation so they immediately remember you. Something like: 'Hey it's [name] from the party. Still thinking about that thing you said about [topic].'

Don't overthink it. Any genuine message is better than the perfect message that never gets sent. The goal is just to open a conversation, not to impress them with a single text.
