How do you know if a date went well?

I went on a first date last night and I genuinely cannot tell if it went well or not. We talked for 3 hours and I laughed a lot but I also can't tell if they were just being polite. How do you actually know if a date went well from the other person's perspective?

Strong signs it went well: the date ran longer than planned, they texted you the same night or next morning, they referenced a next time or suggested a specific plan, and there was genuine laughter and physical comfort.

If you talked for 3 hours it went well. People don't stay on dates that are going badly. The anxiety after is normal but try not to let it rewrite what actually happened.
