How do you support a partner who is insecure about their appearance?

My partner is deeply insecure about how they look. I find them genuinely attractive but nothing I say seems to help and sometimes I feel like reassurance makes it worse. How do you actually support someone with body image issues without enabling or making things worse?

Constant reassurance can actually reinforce the anxiety because it confirms there is something to be insecure about. Encourage them to address the root of the insecurity with a therapist rather than managing it with your reassurance.

Compliment what they do and who they are rather than only their appearance. And model positive self-talk about your own body around them. What you say about yourself shapes the culture of the relationship.
