How do you reconnect with yourself after years of feeling disconnected?

For the past few years I have felt like I am watching my life from the outside. I go through the motions but don't feel present or connected to myself or my life. I can't remember what I enjoy or who I really am. How do you find yourself again?

Try doing things you used to enjoy even if they feel flat at first. The feeling of engagement often comes after starting, not before. Also consider that what you are describing may be depression or dissociation worth discussing with a professional.
